Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know about MyUmmah, in plain language.
What is MyUmmah?
MyUmmah is a Muslim super-app built for Uganda. It brings together the Islamic services you need in one place — pay your Zakat to local mosques digitally, arrange Aqiqah or Udhiyya sacrifices, sponsor Iftar meals for Muslims breaking their fast during Ramadan, and connect with verified Hajj and Umrah service providers. Everything in one app, designed for Muslims here at home.
What services does MyUmmah offer?
MyUmmah currently focuses on five core services: (1) Zakat — calculate and pay your Zakat directly to registered mosques and charities; (2) Aqiqah — arrange the slaughter and distribution of animals to mark a newborn's arrival; (3) Udhiyya (Qurbani) — order your sacrifice animal for Eid al-Adha; (4) Iftar Sponsorship — feed Muslims during Ramadan by sponsoring meals at local mosques; (5) Hajj & Umrah — browse and book through trusted travel companies. MyUmmah does not include prayer time reminders or a Qur'an reader.
Where is MyUmmah available?
MyUmmah is launching in Uganda, starting in Kampala. Because services like Aqiqah and Udhiyya require local agents for animal delivery and distribution, we are building our network here first. We plan to expand to other cities and countries as our agent network grows — in shaa Allah.
When will MyUmmah launch?
We are still building — and building it right. We have not announced a launch date yet. The best way to secure early access is to join the waitlist. Waitlist members will be the very first to receive invites when we open the app.
How do payments work?
MyUmmah supports MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, as well as bank transfers — the payment methods most Ugandan Muslims already use. You will be able to pay for Zakat, Aqiqah, Udhiyya, and Iftar sponsorships directly through the app without needing a credit card.
Is MyUmmah free to use?
Downloading and creating an account on MyUmmah is free. A small processing fee may apply on certain transactions (such as animal purchases or Hajj bookings) to cover logistics and platform costs. We will always be transparent about fees before you confirm any payment.
How does the waitlist work?
Enter your email above and you are on the list. When we open early access, waitlist members are invited first — in the order they signed up. You will receive one confirmation email now, and one invite when your spot is ready. No spam, barakallahu feek.
